Live jazz, whisky & cigars with a 40s twist, Boisdale is the heart and soul of that particular part of heaven.
Boisdale of Belgravia is where it’s at, with its mood-lifting convivial tartan-clad interiors hitting just the right mid notes of sophisticated Scottish kitsch. The whisky list is possibly the most extensive in the world. More like an encyclopaedia with fulsome tasting notes: a rare single-cask Ardbeg from Islay ‘is rich with layers of dense oily phenols, tropical and green fruits, with a distinctive medical streak running through it’. Medical streak? At £245 a shot that better be George Clooney racing through the heather wearing nothing but his ER coat flapping wildly in the Highland breeze!
And then there’s the jazz. At Boisdale jazz ain’t just a jive. Afficionados come from far and wide to hear some of the capital’s most talented interpreters of classic pre-war Great American Songbook jazz. Talking of love and romance there may more than subtle hints and undercurrents of chat-up and flirt on offer at our Rendezvous whiskey tasting event here. Pairing depth-defying whiskey with sumptuous chocolate, never has a pairing ever been so mouth-fillingly perfect. We’ll have our own private room; and once we’ve drunk all the whiskey and scoffed all the chocolates we can carry on in the main restaurant or bar, where there will be live jazz or take cigars up to the terrace.
