Once upon a time, Arding & Hobbs was where South Londoners came for drapery and delight. Now, after a century, a fire, a Debenhams, and a glorious resurrection it’s The Arding Rooms: a private members’ club so handsome you’ll forget you’re technically in Clapham (or as we prefer to call it, seven minutes from Victoria).

Join us on Tuesday, 16 December as we gather in this reimagined Edwardian landmark to toast the year we’re leaving behind—its laughter, lessons, and loveliness—and to look ahead to 2026 with warmth, optimism, and excellent company.

Think soft lighting, old-world glamour, and a hint of Christmas sparkle in the air. Our network of curious, kind, and slightly brilliant humans will be there—not just to mingle, but to connect for friendship, for work, for something deliciously more. We’ll be there to make introductions, spark conversations, and keep the evening gently golden.

Right. So it’s January, and while everyone else is doing that tedious Dry January thing, we thought we’d do something rather more civilised: gather lovely, interesting people in a gorgeous room with excellent drinks and see what happens.  

Our venue is ridiculous in the best possible way. It’s 11 Victorian townhouses turned into something properly special, gilded chandeliers, owl and monkey wallpaper, velvet cushions with bejewelled panther heads, and deep, enveloping armchairs you never want to leave.  

Our private room is clubby and cosy, with a baby grand piano and intimate nooks perfect for getting to know someone properly over a drink. It’s the sort of place where you arrive thinking you’ll stay for one and end up closing the joint.  

We’re gathering sophisticated professionals who just happen to be single, part dating, part networking, entirely without the horror of anything too try-hard. As we step into 2025, what better way than with good conversation, excellent company, and the distinct possibility of meeting someone rather wonderful?  

The Usual Caveat: To keep things balanced, do bring a friend of the opposite sex. First-timer? Veteran? Just turn up ready to be charming.
