We’re taking over one of Soho’s most storied salons –  L’Escargot’s gloriously atmospheric room (yes, that’s the one – Soho’s Grande dame of French dining, est. 1927). Once the Duke of Portland’s private townhouse and later a favourite haunt of Princess Diana, Lucian Freud, Mick Jagger, and the Krays (what could go wrong?), the place is a heady mix of old-world glamour and just the right amount of eccentricity.

Now known as The Snail Bar (don’t let the name fool you – it’s more Parisian opium den meets bohemian townhouse than gastropod gimmick), it’s the perfect setting for a warm, welcoming gathering of professionals in their prime. Think flickering candles, velvet sofas, excellent cocktails and an intriguing crowd.

Expect sparkling conversation, impeccable service, and a certain magic that only September nights in London can offer. You never know who you might meet — and isn’t that half the fun?
